Pure Happiness

Dancing hearts and diamonds: Chopard emblems inspire a new jewellery watch.

They are the emblems of the Maison. On the one hand, daring and light dancing diamonds: invented in 1976 by Chopard’s workshops, they have been spreading their free-spirited attitude ever since through a multitude of watch and jewellery creations. On the other, the feminine and generous heart symbolising the family values upheld by the Maison and its Artisans of Emotions. Thanks to the latter’s talent, a new jewellery watch gracefully combines these elements of which Chopard's identity and its powerful appeal is made.

Within Caroline Scheufele's creative repertoire, the jewellery watch evokes very special emotions: almost a century ago, the grandfather of Chopard’s current Co-President and Artistic Director was already famous for his gemset timepieces, in which he was a recognised specialist. It is a testament to the expertise that has been nurtured for generations by the artisans in the Maison’s Haute Joaillerie workshops, who are now revealing an unprecedented creation.

This jewellery masterpiece also cultivates the heritage of dancing diamonds, skilfully perpetuated since the Maison invented this revolutionary concept in 1976: seven setting-free diamonds spin merrily, both on their own axis and around the entire dial circumference. Echoing the independence movement championed by today's women, dancing diamonds reflect the infinite light caressing their facets, staging a live show that overturns our vision of time.

Like a luminous halo, the artisans have set an array of pear-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds around this hypnotically charming dial, carefully assembled in an eminently graceful and feminine design. At 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock, this interplay of shapes gives life to two large hearts full of life and generosity. The heart symbol has long been an integral part of the Maison’s aesthetic codes, echoing its own values, and has guided the design of numerous creations, from the Happy Hearts collection to Haute Joaillerie and the Palme d'Or – the most prestigious award in international cinema of which Caroline Scheufele has shaped the base into a heart.

Fitted with a satin strap, the entire watch is made of Fairmined-certified ethical 18-carat white gold, while the diamonds are sourced from suppliers certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council: responsible materials that reflect Chopard's commitment to sustainable luxury.

Haute Joaillerie at Chopard

Haute Joaillerie at Chopard is guided by the visionary eye of Caroline Scheufele, who over the years has developed Switzerland’s largest specialist workshops. Within the Maison’s Geneva headquarters, these are now home to more than 30 crafts dedicated to celebrating precious stones and boundless creative generosity, fuelling a myriad of emotions throughout changing seasons.

SUSTAINABILITY

In 2013, Chopard embarked on a Journey to Sustainable Luxury, a long-term commitment which aims to protect and preserve the Earth from which we source our raw materials as well as the people involved in our supply chain.

100% of the refined gold used for this watch comes from sources that are verified as having met international best practice environmental and social standards. Chopard also has an in-house foundry which is not only able to guarantee the origin of the gold used in the production but is above all able to directly resmelt gold scraps and production waste in order to recycle unused material.

The diamonds used for this timepiece follow the principles for transparency stipulated by the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and the Responsible Jewellery Council system of warranties.

Pure Happiness
